NATA measures the aptitude of candidates in the field of architecture. It assesses their drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, critical thinking ability, and architectural awareness. The test consists of two parts: Part A is a drawing test, and Part B is a computer-based online test that evaluates aesthetic sensitivity.

Many colleges and institutions offering undergraduate architecture programs in India consider NATA scores as a criterion for admission. The test is typically conducted twice a year, usually in April and July.

Candidates can register for NATA on the official website of the Council of Architecture and select their preferred examination centers. Admit cards are issued to registered candidates, which they need to carry to the examination center on the day of the test.
