Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE)

GATE stands for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is a national-level examination conducted in India for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, and architecture. GATE scores are also used by various public sector undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment purposes. The GATE examination is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

GATE assesses the comprehensive understanding of candidates in various disciplines of engineering and science. The exam is conducted in multiple disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and more. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), numerical answer type questions, and/or questions requiring a descriptive answer. GATE scores are used for admission to postgraduate programs such as M.Tech/M.E./Ph.D. in various Indian educational institutions. Additionally, many PSUs also consider GATE scores for recruitment of engineers in their organizations.
